TARGETS

My three new resolutions are:

  • Make sure that my final outcome looks skilful and professional
  • Make the presentation of my work more aesthetically pleasing
  • Analyse my progress and make improvements where necessary

TO DO LIST (by the end of this week). (Scroll down to see un update).
  1. Take more risks, with my work, by trying different shapes and sizes
  2. Try more complicated nets
  3. Show more imagination, by trying a more "out of the ordinary" surface patterns e.g. food, fabric.

Have you collected primary visual research relating to your exam theme such as observational drawings and photographs? Are these on your blog?

I have collected primary visual research, to do with my exam theme, which is self-portraits. This includes observational drawings of family members, as well as photographs at different stages of life.

Have you explored and developed your ideas imaginatively? How have you demonstrated this?

Yes I have. I have demonstrated this by thinking of different initial ideas inspired by different artists I have looked at, which is to do with my exam brief.

Have you researched a diverse range of artwork and completed this on your blog? Who have you analysed? Is your analysis in-depth?

I researched a variety of artwork of different artists.
I have analysed artists such as Jennifer Boxworth, Hello Sandwich, Filip Peraic, Kim Welling, Horth, Darcy Pendergrass etc. The analysis of these artists are in-depth, because I discuss the aesthetics of their pieces, the materials they possibly use, as well as the possible meanings to their pieces.

Have you experimented with a wide range of techniques both handmade and computer generated? Which techniques have you used?

I have been experimented with a wide range of technique. Handmade ones include paper manipulation techniques such as curling, scoring and cutting, embossing, rubbings, linocutting. Computer generated techniques include using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, using the techniques available on these programs.

Have you refined / developed your outcomes through experimentation? How?

I combined a handmade technique with a computer generated, as seen with my experiments with my lino prints.

Have you written in detail about your experiments and developments on your blog and used this information to help you improve?

On my blog, there are explanations about my experiments, discussing the process to get the results I wanted.

Have you taken imaginative leaps/ shown a sense of discovery/ willingness to take risks in your work? If so how? If not, how can you do this?

Yes, I took risks by trying out a net, which was quite irregular. I felt that this was a risk, because it was out of my comfort zone, and it took me 5 attempts to get it as best as I could.

Have you shown enthusiasm and imagination in your work? If so, how? If not, how can you make changes to do this?

I have shown some imagination to my work, but not as much as I could have done. To improve this, I could use more "crazy" materials for surface patterns.

Have you created work that is exciting and original? If so, how? If not, what can you do to improve this area?

I have created work that is rather is exciting, but which could be taken to greater heights. To improve this, I could create more tryouts of packages, trying different shapes and sizes.

Have you annotated your blog thoroughly throughout?

I have annotated my blog thoroughly, making sure to talk about as many aspects as possible.

Have you practised with your exam outcomes by creating mock-ups? Are your outcomes skilful/ well constructed?

I did manage to practise with my exam outcome. This didn't take too long, and it managed to turn out well.

Have you created an exam plan?

I haven't created an exam plan yet, but I plan to create one soon (hopefully before the next lesson).

BY NEXT LESSON, I WILL HAVE MADE AT LEAST ONE MORE PACKAGE TRYOUT, ONE THAT IS OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE.

20/04/2012: I managed to complete some of my targets. For my surface patterns, I created a stain and blood splatter by using a wet tea bag, crushed strawberry juice and crushed blueberry juice. I also drew some photographs of people that my subject matter knows, and I burnt them. This was to convey an uneasy relationship, or a ruined relationship between them and the main subject matter, which is accompanied by text. Another surface pattern I did was a typography one. It was a dialogue between my main subject matter and her sister having an argument.
In regards to the package tryouts, I managed to try one more complex packaging. It did take me about 4 attempts to do, but I managed to construct it. I would like to try some more, to give me more alternatives
